The History of our country

Updated: Oct 18, 2021

The history of our country was founded on separation and division, through slavery, racism, classism, police brutality, segregation, social injustice, income inequality, just to name a few.

In an already divided society we cannot afford to be at odds with one another. Now is not the time, nor has it ever been. It is time to make a drastic and significant change in this moment, to simply be united as one. But it must start with each and everyone of us. So when we see and experience injustice inflicted on our black and brown communities, it is important for all of us to take action, and stand up for what we know is right. In my opinion, It is unacceptable to sit back and watch idly by and do nothing.

Now also In my opinion, I believe some people feel they are exempt from helping to ensure this change happens. They think they are the most important people in the world, and no one else matters. And if they do help out, It feels as if we are expected to continuously applaud them for their efforts.

Take the 1% of the country for just one example. Who come from all different walks of life. Who I believe, some of them often forget that everyone else exist, and it’s their “way or the highway.” When in fact 99% of us help to “make the world go around.” Please take some time to look up distribution of wealth for accurate statistics.

Now again, I think it’s possible to live in a unified society but drastic changes and measures must be made. The focus must be centered on eliminating racism, working toward equal distribution of wealth and equality, strengthening our educational system, working on police reform, and the list goes on.

We as a people cannot continue to sow division on any level. One example of this is how we cater to the rich and wealthy, while the poor suffer inequality and injustice at an alarming pace.
