A Good Book and COVID-19
Updated: Jan 8
With a great majority of us being asked to stay at home, and wash our hands vigorously and repeatedly to protect ourselves against the spread of the Coronavirus, many of us find ourselves bored and looking for ways to entertain ourselves to pass the time. We are in desperate need of an outlet to feel a sense of control in our lives, and normal again.
However, unfortunately for some, In today's world of the COVID-19 outbreak, overcoming boredom seems nearly impossible to obtain. We are no longer able to move freely about like we use to, for fear that we could spread Covid-19 to our loved ones, neighbors, or a friendly passerby-er on the street. Our only source of communication is through smart phones, social media and face time. And sometimes that feels like a tease, since we can no longer be in physical contact with one another, unless of course we're standing six feet apart.
So as we struggle to make sense of it all, and attempt to understand this pandemic, It's important to find a positive outlet to unwind, relive tension, stress and worry. One way to overcome boredom, is by picking up that book you've been meaning to read, but haven't had the time until now.
The awesome thing about reading a good book, is that it allows you to find a quiet escape, and enter into the world of imagination and wonder. It gives you the opportunity to live inside a writers world. A world of mystery, fantasy, poetry, love, etc. In order to escape the surreal life experiences we're living today.
So my hope for you in this time of uncertainty, is that you stay safe at home, wash your hands, and grab that good book by your favorite author you've been meaning to read to unwind. I promise you won't regret it.
